Day 2

So it started out aupicious, other than the lack of sleep. We went to the house for our mattress delivery and then met with the painter and insurance adjuster. Then we left Milo in the back yard while we went out an about to Costco to get Milo a new dog bed and to get bedding for us (new bed king size need sheets extra), also stopped at Lowes to pick up some plants only to return home to have my neighbor tell me she had called animal control as she didn't know whose dog was in our back yard and he was barking at her dog. When I explained that he was our dog and we were in the process of moving in and I suggested that her dog and milo meet she blew me off and didn't even bother to introduce herself to me. I don't even know her name. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Anyway we finally got back to the hotel and the kids went swimming. Which they really liked. Now they're watching "High School Musical 2". Hopefully we'll be sleeping better tonight.

Here at last....

Well believe it or not, we are finally in Portland after a phenomenally busy and crazy couple of weeks. And naturally I am wide awake at 2.27am on Friday morning, unable to sleep and too keyed up with all the things that have to be done at the house. I'd be lying if I said I was happy at our current situation. Don't get me wrong the hotel we're at is very nice, right on the river, which our room over looks along with the pool. (Kids are very happy about that) and with a nice balcony too. But the house is a whole other question. The yard is a mess. The garage door does not close properly in the back which is a problem. The trees are severely overgrown. I need to get an arborist in immediately and the kids refuse to go into the back yard because there are too many bugs. If I felt overwhelmed at the prospect before we moved I can't even begin to describe how I feel now with this massive undertaking we are starting. Whats more, I'm somewhat concerned that the hugh semi that has all our furniture won't fit on our street when it comes time to unload which could present a big problem come Tuesday. Our neighbors are already pissed off with us because of our tenants and I really don't want to start off on the wrong foot with them when are furniture arrives.

On the plus side, the painters did a great job with the house. It looks really good right now although the magnetic walls are quite as magnatised as I had hoped still they do look good. We don't have any blinds up in the house at the moment, they need to put those back up. Also the floors are in pretty good shape (except for the kitchen which needs to be done after the remodel). I really want to be excited about all of this, I really do, it's just we have our work cut out for us is all. Tomorrow, actuallly today we're going to stop by Home Depot to buy some plants to spruce up the front yard and a rake to rake up all the leaves in the yard. Got to start somewhere I guess. Hopefully it will come together soon, so I can sleep instead of worry. At least Darren will be here on Saturday. Will post some pictures of the moving truck tomorrow/today.

Bowling and the first signs of Spring.

So  we can see that the first signs of spring our about, as the daffs are starting to come up and the buds are beginning to form on the tree...
